RE: Wisconsin Dells or Smokies

The Smokies are great but on a 4 day weekend it is a lot of driving for a little site seeing, I would want 5 to 7 days for that myself. Have you thought about taking the SS Badger ferry across and doing the Dells? You get the excitement of a Big Ship ride and a break from driving.

RE: Microsoft, is it really great technogoly???????

The one thing that has always gave Microsoft the advantage over other OS's is the huge amount of different hardware it supported. Any one could make a USB Toaster and build drivers to get it running on windows. This also gets many people into lots of problems too. Mac for years only had to support Mac hardware. Early Linux users had to stick with mainstream hardware or it wouldn't work. OS2 never got past ISA support. I ran OS2 for a year before Windows 95 came out but my family could use Windows 95 better. I have a 400 buck Vista laptop which works! That said I have started up a Linux desktop every night for the last 8 years to check my email, surf the net, and post on RV.net. Because I know it will work.

RE: Help! FM antenna project

When I got my used TT the FM antenna on the roof was very bad I unscrewed it and used the old coax to fish in a new piece of rg58 and mounted a two meter/ 440 ham antenna in it's place about 30 inches tall. I put a bnc on the end and use an adapter to go to the FM radio. When I need to use it as a base I just hook up a ham radio and use it. It works great on FM, NOAA weather, and ham bands. No horizontal solution will work as good one sticking up 30 inches.

RE: Anyone else have problems with inkjet printer in RV?

I have never had a inkjet that didn't give me problems, HP, Cannon and Epson all in the trash. One low cost Laser out prints them all 3000 pages a toner cartridge. While color Lasers have come down, they are still a big investment. If you do like to print they are worth it. I think they easily pay for themselves in homemade cards and pictures for friends and family.

RE: Need to run coffee pot early in AM

I have the Coleman stove top automatic drip and it works really good a bit slow but it does warm up the trailer a lot great for chilly mornings. But a good French press is just a coffee drinkers joy when camping. I rarely use the French press at home but out camping just a tea kettle of water, some fresh grind, and your all set. You'll never be hard pressed for coffee in the mornings....:)

RE: WiFI

It is something you could start with a smaller coverage and grow over time. I oversee a WIFI setup in a 100,000 plus sq ft facility and even with the best install there is still maintenance issues down the road. I look at Cisco Aironet equipment as being some of the best out there. You should look into using wireless repeaters to keep your cable runs to a minimum. Another name to bring up is Motorola Canopy but they maybe to much. My tent has a antenna.

RE: What's your Favorite campfire dessert?

Sitting around the campfire? Core apples 3/4 through form the top and fill with brown sugar. Double wrap in tin foil sealed with a twist where the stem was. Turn on the edge of the fire for 30 to 40 minutes till done. :)
